Comparing traffic across NFL team sites

Posted by Joel under: Analytics; NFL .

Do you ever wonder how well your website is doing in comparison with other team sites? I’m asked all the time “where do we rank?” from coworkers. While there is no way of getting accurate traffic statistics on NFL sites from outside sources, Alexa does provide some sort of idea. I put together a Alexa team website traffic statistics page arranged by conference, with the AFC on top and the NFC below. Each conference is then divided by division with the east on top, the north second, the south third and the west at the bottom. I did take the liberty to place the AFC West at the very top.

If you dispute the Alexa website traffic statistics you’re not alone. Josh Pigford over at the Apple Blog posted a rant of sorts regarding the major flaw with Alexa.

So take these statistics with a grain of salt.

Update: Not sure why the Alexa graphs don’t show. Looks like Alexa has flaws even with their embed technology.
